Got news? DBA members are invited to share news and announcements with the Decatur community. Fill out this form, providing complete information as requested. Type or copy and paste your story into the box called "Submission Text." Your article will be reviewed for appropriateness and possible inclusion in the next DBA E-newsletter.

Submissions are accepted on a first come, first served basis, limited to 15 submissions per newsletter. Newsletters are published on the first and the third Thursdays of each month, so submissions are due by the end of business the Monday prior to distribution.

Please note that graphic files are limited to no more than 250 pixels in any dimension (width or height) and must be 72 dpi, in .JPG or .GIF format. Images that exceed these parameters cannot be accepted.

2010 Decatur Beach Party Planning
Want to get involved with the planning of the 2010 Decatur Beach Party?

This fun committee starts planning with our first meeting on Thursday, January 14th at 12;30 pm in the DDDA Conference room.

Decatur City Dance Presents Winter Concert
Combine these ingredients: ballet, bacchanal, the French film “Amelie,” a Celtic song, tapping to a tango, swinging to "Mercy," jazz dances "Jai Ho" and "Evacuate," and powerful, energetic modern dance movement set to "Pulling Rabbits out of a Hat."

The result is Decatur City Dance's popular Winter Dance Concert. The oldest performing dance group in DeKalb County, the company is presenting its 57th season February 5th at 7:30 pm and February 6th at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm in the theatre at St. Pius High School.

January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month
A quick trip to your optometrist may not only be sight-saving but potentially life-saving. Optometrists can can detect chronic and systemic diseases such as glaucoma, diabetes and hypertension.

Glaucoma is the 2nd leading cause of blindness in the US, affecting more than 3 million Americans. The risk of developing glaucoma is four to five times higher among African Americans and the leading cause of blindness. Glaucoma cannot be prevented, but if diagnosed and treated early, can be controlled.

Volunteer Drivers needed to provide free transportation to Seniors to medical appointments
I CARE, Inc., a 501 (C) (3) Non-Profit based in Decatur, Ga, is in need of Volunteer Drivers to provide free transportation to Seniors of DeKalb County, to their medical appointments. Volunteer Drivers use their own vehicles and choose their own schedules for service. Transportation is provided Monday through Friday, and Clients (Seniors) are asked to make appointments between 10 Am and 2 PM. Clients who use the service are seniors who, for financial and medical reasons, have no other means of transportation to medical appointments.
