Navo Church Opens for Preview Service Dec. 24
Navo Church will open at 630 East Lake Dr. in Oakhurst in the former Big H grocery space. Pastor Bryan Fowler says Navo means “We will go” and the church mantra adds “where we are needed.” He hopes Navo’s approach to church worship will attract a new generation of people.
The church will have its public launch in March and will offer weekly services at noon. The preview service on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. will introduce Navo’s approach to the community.
During a typical service, worshippers will listen to music played by performers such as Joe Grandsen, a trumpeter who regularly plays at Twain’s, and Zachary Kale, a singer-songwriter who plays four instruments. Kale once sold guitars with Bo Bice and is a personal friend of Ruben Studdard, both of American Idol fame.
The community will be invited in for cooking classes and demonstrations in the all-Viking kitchen. There will also be salsa, jazz, hip hop and other dance classes taught by a former Alvin Ailey dance performer, Jody Mack Foster, who is currently working out of the Solarium.
Those are just some of the unique opportunities Navo will offer. For more information visit www.navochurch.com.

From the DBA President: Happy Holidays!
It’s been a good year for the DBA. We had the biggest Beach Party ever, great concerts on the square, and we survived the muddiest Easter egg hunt ever. Breakfast with Santa and the bonfire are coming up this month.
Membership is up to 450 members and it’s time to renew. Don’t forget to shop Decatur and have a safe and happy holiday season.
– Neil Dobbs
