‘Decatur Kids Sing’ CD Now Available for Purchase
Great Sing-along Family Music Benefits After-School Programs

Eddie’s Attic was rockin’ to the songs of Decatur’s after-school children as they performed tunes from the first Decatur Kids Sing CD release party. The children participating in this music activity attend City of Decatur schools and range in age from kindergarten to middle school.

The CD includes sing-along family music with familiar tunes and whimsical, kid-created lyrics like “I Love Chicken Wings” and “Ain’t No Bugs on Me.”

Eric Litwin, an award-winning Atlanta musician and music producer, taught students in each of the Decatur after-school programs about imagery, meter and rhyme, as well as tone, tempo and timing, and how to write their own lyrics.

The CD was recorded live at Eddie’s Attic by Shalom Aberle. Eric sang with the children and played guitar, banjo and mandolin, accompanied by Michael Levine on bass and guitar. Lampe-Farley Communications provided the bright, kid-friendly CD cover and label.

Decatur Kids Sing Folk Songs with Mr. Eric can be purchased at The Seventeen Steps, Decatur CD, Intown Ace Hardware, Roly Poly, Little Shop of Stories and MoJo Pizza. Or you can order the CD by calling Decatur Rec, 404-377-0494. Your purchase will benefit Decatur after-school programs.

Decatur Chick-fil-A Works Toward Symbol of Success Award
Chick-fil-A in downtown Decatur is on track to achieve the parent company’s most prestigious recognition, the Symbol of Success award. The award is given to operators who achieve a specified increase in sales over the previous year. Achieving this goal is no easy task and is a symbol of an operator’s dedication to hard work, quality products, excellent customer service and a commitment to the community.

Opening just 18 months ago at the corner of E. Trinity Place and N. McDonough Street, Decatur’s Chick-fil-A credits community support and loyalty for putting it on track for the award.

Only a handful of Chick-fil-A restaurants in the nation have come close to this accomplishment. Of the 1,270 Chick-fil-A stores in the United States, only 157 are on track for the award, and Decatur’s Chick-fil-A is among them. It is also one of only 10 stores in the state likely to win the award.

C.O.W. Holiday Program. Chick-fil-A is implementing the C.O.W. (Communities Offering Warmwishes) holiday program to help families during the holidays. The goal is to put a Chick-fil-A boxed meal into the hands of 2,000 needy people this holiday season.

Individuals, churches, and businesses can sponsor meals for different charitable organizations. Each meal voucher is $5 and is good for one complete meal consisting of a Chick-fil-A sandwich, potato chips, brownie and sweet tea. The normal price on a boxed meal is $6.45. You can purchase one or 1,000 vouchers.

Vouchers can be purchased at Chick-fil-A Decatur, Decatur First Bank, or the Wachovia Decatur branch. Chick-fil-A will partner with Decatur Cooperative Ministries to distribute the boxes to needy families.

Contact Cristina Crays, 678-524-0671, or ccrays@bellsouth.net if you would like to participate in the C.O.W. holiday program, or if you have ideas to move this program forward.
