July 4th
Come join Decatur's Pied Piper Parade as it winds through the streets of downtown Decatur on July 4. Dress up in your favorite July 4 gear, decorate your bike or wagon and be a part of the parade that has more people in it than watching it! Neighborhood associations and organizations are encouraged to decorate floats and be a part of the fun.
The Decatur city commissioners ride in the mini-fire truck and lead the parade, followed by walkers and then decorated vehicles.
Parade line-up is at 5:30 at the First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave. The parade begins at 6 p.m. and ends on the square at the Community Bandstand. A local Boy Scout Troop presents the colors followed by the playing of the Star Spangled Banner by the Callanwolde Concert Band.
The Concert on the Square begins at 7 p.m. and features a variety of music from the Callanwolde Concert Band. Fireworks begin at dark (9-9:30 p.m.), shot from the top of the DeKalb County parking deck behind the county courthouse.
