Got news? DBA members are invited to share news and announcements with the Decatur community. Fill out this form, providing complete information as requested. Type or copy and paste your story into the box called "Submission Text." Your article will be reviewed for appropriateness and possible inclusion in the next DBA E-newsletter.

Submissions are accepted on a first come, first served basis, limited to 15 submissions per newsletter. Newsletters are published on the first and the third Thursdays of each month, so submissions are due by the end of business the Monday prior to distribution.

Please note that graphic files are limited to no more than 250 pixels in any dimension (width or height) and must be 72 dpi, in .JPG or .GIF format. Images that exceed these parameters cannot be accepted.

DBA members are invited to submit their news and announcements directly on the website. Headlines feed onto the home page, updated twice monthly, on the first and 15th. To take advantage of this opportunity, all you need is your text (650 words, maximum), your logo (no wider than 250 px in .JPG or .GIF format, and of course, an active DBA membership.

All submitted articles are reviewed by DBA staff before they are approved for posting.

Nov. 4 - Kate Jacobs. The wonderful "Queen of Knitting Novels" makes a much-anticipated return visit to the Center for the Book to talk about her new book, Knit the Season: A Friday Night Knitting Club Novel. 7:15 p.m. Decatur Library Auditorium, 215 Sycamore Street.

Nov. 5 - Martha Ackmann. A member of the Gender Studies Department at Mount Holyoke College and a scholar on the life and work of the poet Emily Dickinson, Ackmann presents a lecture on her book, The Mercury 13: The True Story of 13 Women and the Dream of Space Flight. 7:30 p.m. Gaines Chapel, Presser Hall, Agnes Scott.

Nov. 4-7 - Atlanta Queer Literary Festival. We'll host a day-long series of programs and workshops featuring two dozen metro writers including Megan Volpert, James Caroline, Ami Mattison, Franklin Abbott, Sara Amis and others. There will be workshops on poetry and prose. The complete schedule may be found at 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Decatur Library, 215 Sycamore Street.

Energy Readers Now Available for Loan from the Public Library
In these tough economic times, everyone is looking for ways to cut consumption and save money. Georgians interested in the energy efficiency of their home appliances can check-out a Kill-A-Watt Energy Detector Toolkit at the Decatur Library. The Kill-A-Watt unit measures the energy consumption of individual appliances by the Kilowatt-hour and estimates the cost of operating the appliance by the hour, day, week, month and year. All branches of the public library will have the toolkit available for checkout for a week. 404.370.8450 ext. 2278.

Jessica Kane from Fabu Face Spa got best facial in Allure Magazine for October 2009! This is a national award, no one else in GA received this! This is the 2nd year in a row that Fabu has gotten this award.

Leapin' Lizards Second Annual Halloween Bash
